The Last אֵלִיָּהוּ
(Ancient Hebrew for Eliyahu/Elijah)
Back in my early days of going to church I heard people talk about the last Elijah calling. They talked about how great it will be to see God displaying His wrath and judgement again, like the way He did long ago with Elijah the Tishbite, who had the ‘fiery showdown’ by calling fire down from heaven, and then beheaded about 850 false prophets. They talked a lot about how this Elijah will go after the wicked and immoral people who live for their pleasures. I understood that to mean sinners who drink, swear, lie, smoke, cheat, steal, exceed the posted speed limit, etc. But it's almost the opposite... the last Elijah's messages will be a relief to many who think too lowly of themselves, and an insult to many who think too highly of themselves. The "church of the day" are like the 850 false prophets that Elijah exposed as misleading God's people - but it's not their fault, it was part of a much greater plan. But anyone who hears these things and yet continues in them, that one is indeed at fault on that Day.
As the years went by I became insatiably curious about this calling and began reading and studying the Bible to learn about it. For over a decade I asked the Lord to reveal the Scriptures about the "Elijah" that Yahusha (Jesus) said "will come and restore all things", and I received hardly anything. I knew John had fulfilled the Malachi 3 verse about "Preparing the way" because the Son of God said it so plainly. But because I had been given an NIV Bible back then and didn’t know there were so many differences between the translations, I was stumped.
My breakthrough came after I was given a very old Bible. The cover only says, “Translated from the Original Tongues”. The Lord started by showing me the Isaiah 61:2 'split' where the Son of God stood up in the Temple reading, but stopped mid-sentence and sat down. Then He began showing me these ‘splits’ all over the place in His Word. I started to realize that His Word must be taken “precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little” meaning not at face value. I learned that I (we) need His help to know where one line ends, and the next line begins, and that the ancient Hebrew and Greek didn’t even have punctuation. Man added the punctuation based on what he assumed was being said. So learning how to “Rightly divide God’s Word” today is no small thing, especially when it comes to certain topics like the last Elijah calling…
Here's a list of the Scriptures with [splits] and the understandings I was given about this calling:
Malachi 3 “Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts [split] But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:…” There is a split because of the differences between the nature and purpose of Christ’s first and second comings.
Matthew 11 “For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee”. It confirms that John was the Malachi 3:1 messenger.
Matthew 17:10-13 "And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” Yahusha (Jesus) answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah comes first and will restore all things. But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.” Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist”. Jesus called John the Baptist 'Elijah', even though his God-given name was John. On the day Jesus said this, John had already been killed. So the Elijah who is yet to come, will not be called ‘Elijah’ either, and may be easily overlooked like John.
Malachi 4:4-6 kjv "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: And he shall turn the hearts of the fathers to the children [split] and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." There is a split here because John's ministry was not about turning hearts to make happy families. As Christ’s forerunner, that would contradict the Son of God saying that He ‘came to bring family strife’, when He quoted Micah 7:6.
Luke 1 “And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children [split] and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season”. When the angel Gabriel quoted Malachi 4:5,6 to John's dad, he changed all the words after the split. We know Gabriel doesn't make mistakes. John's dad Zechariah found that out the hard way... The Angel Gabriel changed the second part to "... and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just..." instead of leaving it as "...and the hearts of the children to their fathers..." because he knew it was not John’s calling to “Turn the hearts of the children to their fathers”. This is usually where people go wrong, as God and Gabriel set a snare for anyone who isn't taking it "line by line, and precept upon precept".
There's more Elijah Scriptures coming after these next 4 paragraphs...
It isn't about physical fathers, it's about the two supernatural father who are able to plant 'children' in this world, as it says in Matthew 13:37-39. John's ministry ‘turned the hearts’ of the 2 supernatural fathers to sow their 'children' into the kingdom of heaven, and Satan's 'children' "suffered it with violence, and took it by force" as it says. And, believe it or not, it was God's will for this to happen, which is why John called Satan's seed "a Brood of vipers" but then Baptized them anyway. God had said to Jeremiah that in the New Covenant He would "sow the seed of Israel and Judah among the seed of men and the seed of beast". And according to Scripture, both Satan and God have been busy sowing children into what Yahusha put in place, that most people simply call 'Christianity'. It has been a 2000 year 'seed sowing ordeal'. Satan being 'hell bent' to use people to stop God's ruination of him, and God being 'heaven bent' to redeem and refine as many as He can through this "Furnace of affliction". This information is part of what "turns the hearts of the children to their 'corresponding' spiritual fathers". Some won't have it, and this is what causes the great falling away, sadly. Everyone who rejects these 'unheard of things' to 'walk on the narrow road' like the Son of God did, will continue with "their father's" version of Christianity by refusing to "Come out of her". This is why Jesus said, "many Christ-confessing Christians with signs and wonders" will be the ones who hear, "Away from me you evil doers..."
About all this, when it says, "Come out of 'her' My people" in Revelation 18:4, it is tied to the days when the mark of the beast is being forced into society, and not to the days of Cyrus. So who or what is this 'her' anyway? Jeremiah 31:22 "... for the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth. A woman shall Compass (Cabab in Hebrew) a man." Cabab means to surround, compass, have control over, or 'restrain' a man. Isaiah 48:7-11 says, "They are created now and not from the beginning" means the "woman who surrounds a man" in Jeremiah 31 was not part of the original creation of the heavens and the earth. So who's the woman and who's the man?
Isaiah 47 says, "Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate. Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers. Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man. As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel. Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms. I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke. And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it. Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children: But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments. For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me. Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know".
There's a lot in there... She is the queen principality around the earth. God was angry with His people (explained in the chapter The Origins of Seed-types) and gave them into her hand. In another place it says, "it is a trial" and "a consumption around the whole earth" so it includes everyone not just the Jewish people. For her to become a widow she has to have unto her a husband of sorts (this is explained in more detail later on). She calls herself "I am" which is God's Name. She says, 'No one sees me' because she is not a city, which is why God "will not meet her as a man" but as the only truly omnipresent and omnipotent Almighty God who can do this to her. Which is why the coming of the Ancient of days will be felt around the earth, when that day comes to begin His Judging. When it says, "these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood" it is the literally same wording used in the Revelation about the fall of Babylon,"One one day, in one hour". God 'sowed' satan into her. It's like God married them together, giving satan a temporary dominion around the earth through her, which is what made him to become "the god of this world" as Paul called it. One one day in one hour, God will judge her, taking away her dominion away from satan, thus making her like a widow. She loses her 'children' because the magic wine that's holding people like captives in her vine, is ended. This is the mystery spoke of in Revelation 10, that ends "as the seventh angel is about to sound". This is the "secret power of lawlessness". And it takes another 100 pages to do this discussion justice.
The Isaiah 48 last Elijah treasure-chest continues, “…I have shown you new things from this time, even hidden things, and you did not know them. They are created now and not from the beginning; And before this day you have not heard them lest you should say, ‘Of course I knew them.’ You did not hear, You did not know…” “…All ye, assemble yourselves and hear; which among them has declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans. I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him, I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous. Come near to me, and hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I. And now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me”. The last Elijah, who foreruns the Second Coming, is not a fierce man like Elijah the Tishbite. He is not a warring king like Cyrus. And his message is not simple John the Baptist's. As it says, the last Elijah is a teacher who ‘declares unheard-of things’ to many nations, restoring what the First Coming put in place, enabling people to prepare for the Second. The last Elijah calling cannot become fully active until the Ancient of Days comes and speaks or even appears in a non-private gathering as it says, where He “imparts His Spirit” to the man chosen to be the last Elijah. The Ancient of Days does this to validate the last Elijah’s proclamations, since they’re often contrary to what Christians have been taught.
This is why it says in Isaiah 48, "Even before the day when thou heardest them not, lest thou shouldest say, Behold I knew them. Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb. For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another." Basically no one can say they 'knew this', making it 'unheard of'.
The difference between Cyrus and the last Elijah, from Isaiah 46. It says, "Calling a ravenous bird from the east, ]split[ the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it." History shows that Cyrus wore a 'ravenous bird emblem' on his battle attire, so that fits. And Cyrus was from east of Jerusalem so that fits too. But Cyrus was from a land that was a closer walk to Jerusalem, than the Jews had to walk back from their Babylon captivity after Cyrus liberated them. More significantly, Cyrus didn't receive an anointing from God in a non-private gathering where God speaks openly to people, like it says will happen to anoint the last Elijah. We all love Cyrus and indeed he was a special man God raised up, even excellent in fairness and justice, but Cyrus is not the man from a far country. Also, when you compare the Isaiah 48 deliverance of God's people from a 'babylon' to Cyrus's liberation of the Jews from visible Babylon, they don't match. The last days liberation says, "Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob". Yet, when Cyrus liberated the Jews, many did not even leave Babylon, and those who did went home to rebuild ruins. There is no historical evidence of the jubilation describe in Isaiah 48.
Also, the two areas of Scripture when God talks about the last Elijah, have references to Moses. In Malachi it says, "Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments". In Isaiah 48 it says, "And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out. There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked".
The last Elijah's teachings explain how all people are "gods" according to Scripture. So when we walk and talk as the world does instead of as the Son of God taught, we are "Having another god before Him", thus breaking the first commandment. This is why Moses was allowed to fail God, and not enter the promised land. It was a foreshadowing of the importance of walking this walk. As you may know, Moses had been told to "Strike the rock" to get water, but later was told to "Speak to the rock" instead. Moses didn't believe God that it would work and instead struck the rock again. God said He wanted to be "Sanctified in the eyes of the people there" and for robbing God of this, Moses wasn't allowed to enter the Promised Land.
These are both foreshadowings.
